Outlines - Friendly Fliers

Good Monday morning! It's time for a new challenge over at Outlines and this week's challenge is Friendly Fliers: If it flies…. Butterflies, dragonflies, and ladybugs…you get the idea. I chose to use Butterfly Sq. Lg. (E-519) for my flier.  I stamped the square twice; once on white card stock and once on vellum, and then I colored the card stock version using Copic markers.  I cut the butterfly out of the vellum and colored the back of it using Copic markers and then adhered just the body to the card stock.

The background paper is from DCWV's Mariposa collection and the Script Thank You (B-1054) for my sentiment.  The pink dots in the border of the image were created using Shabby Pink Smooch.  My card fits this week challenge over at Pals Paper Arts, which is to make a simple card incorporating ribbon.

Please be sure to look up the details for playing along with this week's challenge over at the Outlines blog and also check out the great cards the rest of the team has made:

MFTWSC41

I made this birthday card for a friend this week and based it on My Favorite Things' current sketch challenge (MFTWSC41).  I used stamps from the Pure Innocence Mud Buddies set and colored the image using Copic and Spica markers.  The trowel and pot in the image were replaced with metal charms and her outfit was paper pieced using papers from My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Sunshine collection.  The other patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye Stella Rose Hattie collection and I added Swarovski crystals to the centers of the flowers for a little sparkle.

Hope you're having a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by!

Crazy4Challenges - Holiday Heat Embossing

Happy Saturday!  Outlines is sponsoring today's challenge over at Crazy4Challenges.  The challenge is: "The holiday season is heating up! Create something today for an upcoming holiday and incorporate heat embossing in your creation.".  A great incentive to get started on those holiday cards!

I used Tree Square Sm (B-329) and Wreath Square Sm. (B-337) for my card.  I stamped each image twice using Versarmark and the heat embossed using colored embossing powders.  The patterned papers are from Jillibean Soups' Christmas Eve Chowder collection and the ribbon is from Stampin UP!.

We would love for you  to play along - you could win a $25 gift certificate from Outlines!  So please head on over to Crazy4Challenges for the rules for playing along and to see the great cards the Crazy4Challenges design team has made using Outlines' stamps!

Some of my fellow Outlines design team members have also made sample cards for the challenge, so be sure you check them out, too!

RI DCC Challenge - Fall or Halloween

We have a new Designer's Choice Challenge over at The House That Stamps Built starting today! Our new challenge is to make a Fall or Halloween card! For my sample, I used the adorable Jacko'lantern Cat image (806-G), which I colored using Copic markers.  I added yellow Spica marker to the pumpkin's face for a little sparkle.

For the background panels, I used Falling Leaves (3306-I) and stamped it many times, then colored the leaves using Copic markers. The sentiment is Spooktacular (2309-G).  The striped paper is from BoBunny's Forever Fall collection and the colors fit with this week's color challenge over at The Paper Players (PP67).  The bat and pumpkin brads are from Making Memories.  All of the panels were sponged using Distress Inks (Antique Linen and Vintage Photo).

A Pair of Sympathy Cards

I needed two sympathy cards - one feminine and one masculine. I used this week's Color Throwdown #162 colors (Pool Party, Barely Banana, Creamy Caramel and Early Espresso) for my palette and made both cards using My Mind's Eye's Stella and Rose - Hattie collection.

The Tulip stamp on the first card is from The Angel Company and the Many Tears (SD021) sentiment on the second card is from Stamp Camp - this is one of my all time favorite sympathy sentiments (you can click on the photo to see it larger).

The layout I used for both cards is based on this month's Sketch for you to Try.

With Sympathy

I have found myself needing a few sympathy cards lately - I hate that...For this card I used a stamp from The Angel Company, which is now defunct in case you didn't know.  Too bad, they had nice stamps.  The sentiment is from Flourishes and the patterned papers are from My Mind's Eye's Lost and Found 2 Sunshine collection.

The layout for my card is based on this week's Card Postitioning Systems' sketch (CPS238).  This card also fits this week's challenge over at The Paper Players, which is to add music to your project (the three vertical strips of patterned paper behind my focal image).

RI Sketch Challenge - Some Days Flutter By

We are starting a new two week sketch challenge over at The House That Stamps Built! For my sample card, I have used the Butterfly (sm.) (9009-F) and Flutter By sentiment (9005-E) from this summer's new stamp series. The papers are from the DCWV Mariposa collection.  I modified the sketch a little by letting the butterfly on the patterned paper take the place of the circle on the right side of the focal panel.

Please be sure to check out the details for playing along with us over at The House That Stamps Built, and while you are there, take a look at the great cards the rest of the team has made using the sketch!

Outlines - Halloween

This week's challenge over at Outlines is to make a Halloween card - it's that time of year!  I started out by stamping the Web (H-762) image twice using Versamark and embossing with black embossing powder (which qualifies it for this week's Pal's Paper Arts challenge to use heat embossing!).  Next I stamped the Spooky Kitty (G-1102) image and coloring it using Copic markers.  I added some Smooch Top Coat to the moon and stars to give them a little glimmer!  The Happy Halloween (B-1106) sentiment was stamped with Adirondack Terra Cotta ink.  The patterned papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Matilda collection.
