RI SOTW - Hammock

We are celebrating a new Stamp of the Week over at Repeat Impressions today! This week's stamp is this great hammock image (2913-I Hammock).  I wanted to make a card to celebrate my hubby's retirement - this image was perfect!  It was colored using Copic markers and the sky and grass were airbrushed.  The palm tree paper is from Creative Imaginations.  I finished it off with some twine and a wood button.

Please make your way over to The House That Stamps Built for the details on getting this fun image for 50% off this week and to check out the terrific cards the rest of the design team has made with it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Outlines - Seahorse

This week's challenge for the Outlines Design Team  is Lots of Layers, with a Product Focus on Smooch paints.  I layered up my card with varying shades of blue papers that I cut using a ric-rac edge punch to make waves at the bottom (seven layers there!).  Next I stamped the seahorse section from Split Layering Collage - Splash (H-796) twice and cut out the seahorse image and popped it up with foam tape, then layered it on three mat layers (that's five layers there!).  The image was colored with Copic markers, except for the dark teal fins and spots, which were painted with Smooch Ocean Soul.  I also painted a little Smooch Top Coat in the white portion of the eye.   If you haven't used Smooch paints yet, you should pick up a bottle - it has a very fine tip that makes it easy to get into small spots, plus it adds a nice shimmer!

The seahorse patterned paper is matted on shimmery silver card stock and then on top of navy blue shimmer card stock (that's three more layers!).  I added a few drops of light blue and silver Pearl Paint Pen in the fins and tail.  Here's a close up so you can see all those layers!

Please be sure to check out the multi-layered creations from the rest of the design team:

CPS198 - Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!!  Hope you are enjoying your holiday festivities!

I needed a few last minute Christmas cards, so I whipped this first one up using PTI's Stocking Prints images and die.  The stocking patterned paper is Creative Imaginations Winter Woodland Stockings paper and the rust and Kraft stripe and polka dot papers are all from Canvas Corp.  The mini clothespins are from Creative Impressions and were colored with a Copic Marker.

The layout for this first card is based on this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems (CPS198).  The sketch shows three elements, but I couldn't fit three stockings, so I went with two.  They are a little higher than the ones on the sketch, but I wanted to 'hang' them with the ones on the patterned paper....creative license, I guess!

The second card uses another section of the same stocking paper, along with another section that I border punched for a mat.  To stamp the stockings, I used Adirondack's Rust, Terra Cotta and Espresso inks and the sentiments were stamped with Versamark and Espresso and embossed with clear embossing powder.

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!!  Thanks for stopping by!

RI SOTW - Life is not measured...

Good morning! It's time for another Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week. This week's stamp is #6113-K Life is not... from the Verticals series. This stamp is available exclusively to Repeat Impressions' blog readers at 50% OFF from June 14 – June 20, 2010 only. (Limited to 1 per person please.) Please see The House that Stamps Built for details on getting this versatile stamp at half off!  While you're there, check out what the other members of the design team have done - it's always interesting to see the different things everyone does with the same stamp!

When we are SCUBA diving, seeing a seahorse is definitely one of those moments that takes your breath away, so I paired the sentiment up with some seahorse patterned paper from Creative Imaginations Oceana Collection and the 4102-D, Sea Horse (sm) stamp, also from Repeat Impressions.  I stamped the sentiment and the seahorse using Versamark and heat embossed with navy blue embossing powder.  I cut the seahorses out and placed one on the ric rac with its tail curled around it, to mimic the way they wrap them around coral in the ocean.

My ribbon treatment is three layers of ribbon - a sheer navy with satin edges, a teal and white striped ribbon and finally a layer of ric rac.  The ribbon layers were adhered using Scor-Tape.  The square brad in the upper left corner is also from the Oceana collection.

For the inside, I used the strip of remaining seahorse images I had stamped and layered it on a leftover piece of the patterned paper.  The blue striped paper mat is is Japanese Watermark paper from Marco's Paper.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week!
