Happy Birthday Old Bird (C4C44, JUGS40)

Greetings! Hope you had a Happy 4th of July!  My closest friend from college had her 50th birthday on Saturday and this is the card I made for her.  I'm most excited about the fact that I will be able to give it to her in person since she and her family are coming to visit tomorrow.  I usually make her something with owls because we were in Chi Omega together.  There is very little stamping on this card - the sentiment is from Inkadinkado and the branch and leaves are from this year's Round and Round anniversary set from PTI.  I cut one of the owls from the  patterned paper and perched it on my branch.

For the inside, I used a sentiment from Heidi Grace, combined with a couple of PTI stamps.  I'm hoping the sappy sentiment on the inside will make up for the sentiment on the front (click on the photo to see it larger)!  I cut out another bird from the patterned paper and popped it up with foam tape next to the sentiment.

The patterned papers are from My Little Shoebox's Whoo Loves You? collection, the pink ribbon is from Stampin' UP, the piece of yellow ric rac is the last bit from my stash and the buttons and twine are from PTI.  The card is based on this week's sketch from Just Us Girls (JUGS40).  The two layers of ribbon on the front qualifes it for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C44) challenge to use at least two ribbons.

Who Loves You?

This silly card was made using four little owl stamps, from the Paper Source, Impression Obsession, Inkadinkado and Sassafras Lass (Oliver and Friends).  I used the Inchie Inklings Inchie Card Sketch #3 for my layout and stamped each owl on an Inchie square, colored them with Copic markers and then matted them with two different shades of green card stock. 

The patterned paper and matching ribbon are from Adornit's Fern Collection - Owls All Around.  The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farm's U R A Hoot set.  Pretty simple, fun little card!

Winter Happy Birthday

I made this card for two challenges - the JUGS10 sketch challenge and this week's CAS44 Color Challenge which was to use red, brown and white or cream. Of course, this card isn't exactly Clean and Simple....but at least I got the color part right!

The background paper is from a Christmas paper stack and the brown paper is from Stampin' UP!. I stamped my snowflakes (from Stampin' UP!) and the bird image (from Inkadinkado) on the brown paper with PTI's Vintage Cream ink and then added some Stampendous glittery embossing powder and heat embossed. I added the red dots around the scalloped edges with a red Spica pen for a little more sparkle. The velvet ribbon is from Cosmo Cricket and the striped ribbon is from Stampin' UP!

Happy Birthday You Old Bird!

A very good friend of mine had a birthday last week, and this is the card I made for her. It was a quick card that I made right before I headed out of town for a conference (which explains why I have been such a bad blogger for the last week). I was in Las Vegas from Monday through Thursday and am glad to be back home. I'm not a Vegas girl...

Anyway, Tina and I were Chi Omega sorority sisters in college. Chi Omega's symbol is the owl, so over the years we have done a lot of owl gifts and cards. When I saw this Inkadinkado set with the owls and this sentiment, I had to have it for her! She is four months older than I am, and I have often teased her about being older, so this sentiment was perfect. She has collected rabbits as long as I have known her, so that explains the rabbit brads on the sentiment. That, to me, is one of the greatest things about making cards - you can customize them with the perfect little details, just for your recipient.

I used Card Positioning Systems' CPS120 sketch, the stamps and the patterned paper as my starting points. The patterned paper panel behind the owl image is the reverse side of the patterned paper used for the larger panel, which is from Best Creations. I wanted to show as many of the owls on the background paper as I could, so I trimmed the left edge of the second layer close to the giraffe's head and neck. The stamped image was colored and airbrushed with Copic markers, and cut out using a square Nestabilities die. The mat layer is Bazzill Bling card stock that was cut out using a Labels Three Nestabilities die.

Winter bird

As soon as I saw the Winter Birds set from Inkadinkado, I had to have it - I think these birds are gorgeous and just wish I had been able to do more with them this season.

This is a I card I made to take to my massage therapist a couple of weeks ago for her to sell at her spa . Except for the bird stamp, everything on the card is from Stampin' UP!. The card is pretty self explanatory and not complicated, but I like the color combination.

I'm making progress on all my Christmas preparations, but still have more to do than I'd like. Today I am planning to gift wrap and pack up all the boxes for mailing, then it's back to the Christmas cards....
