RI Sketch Challenge - Thanks So Much Scrimshaw

There is a new sketch challenge starting over at The House That Samps Built!  For my sample card, I used Sailboat (2704-H), which I stamped on ivory paper with Versafine Onyx Black ink and sponged using Distress Ink (Antique Linen) to make it resemble scrimshaw.  The patterned papers are from October Afternoon's Seaside collection.  The sentiment is Thanks so Much (8607-D) from Quartet Complements and I used some string to tie a square knot, in keeping with the nautical theme!

Please head on over to The House That Stamps Built to get the rules for playing along with the challenge and to see the wonderful cards the rest of the team has made using the sketch!

This is my last posting for the Repeat Impressions design team.  I have some big projects going on at work and have decided that it's best if I take a break from design team assignments for a while.  I hope you'll continue to visit!

Outlines - Thanks!

Good morning!  Hope you had a very Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah!   This week the challenge over at Outlines is to make a holiday thank you card.  For my sample I used Sparkle Thanks (H-905) and paired it up with some Jillibean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder papers.

I colored the Thanks image using Copic markers  to match the patterned papers and trimmed it close to the stamped image.  I matted it with red paper, which I also trimmed closed to the stamped image.  Finally, I added a LOT of Swarovski crystals - LOVE those!  You can see how much they sparkle a little better in this side angle view.

I have decided to step down from the Outlines design team due to some big projects I have going on at work, so this will be my last post as a member of the design team.  What a great and talented group they are!  I will surely miss them and being on the team.

Please be sure to look up the details for playing along with this week's challenge over at the Outlines blog and also check out the great cards the rest of the team has made:

Please stop over at The House That Stamps Built to find out the rules for the playing along with us on this new challenge and to take a peek at the fun shaped cards the rest of the team has made!  This will probably be my last post before the holiday weekend, so Happy Holidays to you!

Outlines - Let it Snow!

There is a new challenge starting today over at the Outlines blog and this week's challenge is Let it Snow!  For my sample card, I used Snowflake Square Lg. (E-523), which I heat embossed with gold embossing powder on white shimmer paper and matted on gold paper.  I did the same for the sentiment, which is Let It Snow Square Sm. (B-752).  To complement the background paper, I used Olivine Swarovski crystals around both images.

Here's a side view of it to try to show all the shimmer from those gorgeous Swarovski crystals!

RI SOTW - Snow Sledding

Greetings! We have a new stamp of the week over at The House That Stamps Built and this week's special is on this very cute Snow Sledding (4712-J) image! I paired him with some snowman and snowflake patterned papers from The Paper Loft Winter Wonderland.  The sentiment is a perfect match for him, too - One flake to another (8904-I).  The panels were sponged using Distress Inks and the snowy hill was made by spreading some Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner to form a hill.

Please head over to The House That Stamps Built to get the details for getting this stamp at 50% off and to see the great creations the rest of the team has made using this fun image!

Outlines - Sparkle and Shine!

We have a new challenge theme over at Outlines and this week's challenge is Sparkle and Shine - crystals, shimmery paper, glitter, whatever you want, just make it sparkle and shine!  For my sample card I used Tree Jewel (C-1087), which I stamped using Versamark and gold embossed.  I added a bunch of Swarovski Crystals to my image - Lt. Siam, Emerald, Lt. Colorado Topaz and Clear in sizes 7, 12 and 16.  The image is popped up using foam tape.

All of the papers I used are shimmery too - it's easier to see all the sparkle in this angled shot and you can always click on the photos to see them larger.  The sentiment is from the Christmas Layer Collage (K-704) and was stamped in red ink on Cryogen Poison Ivory paper.

Outlines - Tags!

Hello!  It's time for a new challenge over at Outlines and this week's challenge is Tags.  For my tag I used Flower Mandala 3 (H-213) because the shape reminded me a little of a poinsettia.  Please forgive the bright green tissue paper - it was all I had available at photo time!  I stamped and embossed it four times using Versamark and gold embossing powder - twice on Poison Ivory (it has a bitter of shimmer to it) and once each on red and green papers from Kaisercraft's Belle collection.

Next I set out to cut my layers - which was good busy work while watching Georgia get their butts whipped by LSU yesterday... :-(  After I had cut out the layers, I stacked them on top of the poison ivory base layer using foam tape so it has some dimension.  To finish it off, I punched a hole in one of the points and added some shimmery gold ribbon for hanging it on the package.  The To and From information can be added on the back.

Please be sure to look up the details for playing along with this week's challenge over at the Outlines blog and also check out the great cards the rest of the team has made:

RI Sketch Challenge - From One Flake to Another!

We have a new sketch challenge starting today over at The House That Stamps Built!  This is a good sketch to help you get those Christmas cards finished up!  For my sample card, I used Tiny Twig Hair Snowman (2016-D) and the sentiment is One Flake to Another (8904-I).  To create the background layer, I embossed red card stock with a Cuttlebug folder and used my brayer to add white ink to the raised snowflakes.

I stamped the snowman and colored his scarf and nose using Copic markers.  I outlined the image while it was still in the die and added a snowflake to the bottom left corner.  The striped ribbon is from Stampin' UP! and I layered my sentiment on top with some red twine and a bow.

While I had my supplies out, I made second card, using the tent topper style I've been basing the rest of my Christmas cards on.

Two more Christmas cards to add to my stash! I'm slowly making progress!
Please be sure to make your way over to The House That Stamps Built to peek at the cards the rest of the team has made using the sketch and to find the rules for playing along with us!

RI SOTW - Candy Cane Santa

We have a new Stamp of the Week over at The House That Stamps Built and it's this fun little Candy Cane Santa (303-I).  I decided to take a vintage turn with him and paired him with My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Chrstmas papers for the background.  I stamped Merry Christmas (1141-F) at the bottom of the text background.

I cut the bottom sheet of patterned paper in half and was able to stretch it to make two cards using this image. Santa was colored using Copic markers and the background was sponged with Distress Inks while it was still in the die.

The striped ribbon is from Stampin' UP! and I colored the plain twine with one of the Copic markers I used on Santa's suit.

Please be sure to head over to The House That Stamps Built to get the details for picking this image up for 50% off and to see the other fun cards the rest of the team has made with it!

Outlines - Hang it Up!

Good Monday morning! Did you have a nice Thanksgiving weekend? We had lots of good food and wine and even managed to get the Christmas tree up and the decorations out!

This week's challenge over at Outlines is 'Hang It Up' - make an ornament or wall hanging, anything but a card!  I created an ornament using Plain Ornament (H-183) and just the snowman image from Christmas Layering Collage (K-704).  I inked up the snowman with a black Memento marker and stamped it on white card stock, then I stamped the Plain Ornament around it.

I 'colored' the snowman's body and the snowy background, using Viva Holo Iridescent Glitter Liner.  The scarf and hat were colored using Copic markers.  I stamped just the words from Let It Snow Sq. Sm (B-752), cut it out using a 1" circle punch and layered it on the red Nestabilities die because the shape reminded me of a snowflake.  I cut the ornament out and added Viva Glass Effect Gel - Crystal Clear to the top of the ornament, on the front and back, to give it stability.  Once it was dry, I hung it on the tree!

Papertrey November Blog Hop Challenge

I took advantage of my day off today to get started on my Christmas cards and decided to play along in Papertrey Ink's November blog hop.  This month's theme is base your project on this inspiration photo.  I drew a lot of inspiration from the photo - the color scheme, the checks, the greenery and the toile paper.  I made two of each of the cards shown above, which makes it a pretty productive day.

This first card has holiday toile-style paper from The Paper Studio on the bottom half and I embossed the top portion using a Cuttlebug folder and then used a brayer to add Fresh Snow ink to the snowflakes.

The striped layer is decorative masking tape from 7Gypsies, and I added May Arts red twine.  The stamps are from Tiny Treats Christmas set.

The plaid paper on this second card is also from The Paper Studio and the bottom Pure Poppy section was embossed and inked with Fresh Snow using a brayer.  The white stitched ribbon is from Stampin' UP! and I added a red twine bow.

For the last card, I used another embossed and brayered layer, as well as more paper from The Paper Studio.  The music layer is also masking tape from 7Gypsies.

The stamped plaid background is also from the Tiny Treats Christmas set.  All images were colored using Copic and Spica markers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!  I hope you are enjoying a delicious meal and fun times with your family, or with good friends as we will be doing!  This card is for our host and hostess to thank them for all the wonderful things they do for us throughout the year.

I used all Papertrey Ink products for the card and based the layout on this week's sketch from My Time Made Easy (MTMEPPS37).   The papers are from PTI's Autumn Abundance collection and the stamp sets are Fall Elegance (sentiment), Vintage Picnic (focal image), Beyond Basic Borders (the 'tablecloth') and Inside & Out: Thank You (inside sentiment).

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your Thanksgiving holiday!

RI DCC Challenge - Snowflakes

We are starting a new Designer's Choice Challenge over at The House That Stamps Built today and this time the challenge is to use snowflakes in your creation.  I have snowflakes on my patterned papers, there is a snowflake in my sentiment and my image is a snowman, so I think I have it covered!

I have used 3813-M, Snowcat and Friends for my main image.  I used Copic markers to color the birds, birdhouse and cap and filled the snowman in using Viva Holo Iridescent Glitter liner.  The snow on the ground is Polar White Flower Soft.  The sentiment is 2006-H, Let It Snow and the patterned papers are from Memory Box's Yuletide collection and LilyBee Designs' Jingle collection.

I based my layout on this week's Sweet Sunday sketch (#144) and it also fits this week's Technique Lover's Challenge (TLC352) over at Splitcoast Stampers, which is 'Let's make it snow'!
Please be sure to head over to The House That Stamps Built to check out the rules for playing along and to see the great Snowflake cards the rest of the team has made!

Thanks for stopping by and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Outlines - Gift Card Holder

We have a new challenge for you over at Outlines this morning and this week's challenge is to make a gift card holder. For my card, I used a Starbuck's gift card holder that I had and covered it with patterned papers and the Ho Ho Ho image (C-278).  The image was colored using Copic markers and a gold Spica pen to complement the tan and gold border on the holder.

I covered the back of the gift card holder with some more of the Jillibean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder papers.  I used the holly paper to complement the holly border around my Ho Ho Ho image.

For the inside, I also covered the top portion and the pocket for the card with more patterned paper.  This is a quick and easy way to dress up the holders those gift cards come in!
