Outlines - Meow!

Happy Monday!  This week's Outlines design team challenge is Furry Friends - use a cat or dog image.  For my card, I used Split Layering Collage-Meow (H-937) and Friends Fur-ever (B-1080).   I stamped my image twice and cut one apart to use for adding layers.  For the balls of yarn, I pierced holes through the image and actually pulled out a needle and some embroidery floss and sewed - egad!  I popped that layer up on foam tape, along with the Meow and paw print sections.

I cut the cat and mouse bodies out and layered them with foam tape as well.  The gold pearls were created with my Viva Decor Pearl Paint Pen.  Everything was colored using Copic markers and the patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket's Honey Pie collection.  The paw print and meow brads on the sentiment panel are from Around the Block.

Here is a closeup shot of the various layers (click on the photo for a larger view).  I used this week's Color Throwdown colors (So Saffron, Pretty in Pink/Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip) for my color scheme.  Please be sure to check out what the rest of the design team created for this challenge:

RI Sketch Challenge - It's a Boy!

It's time for another sketch challenge over at Repeat Impressions!  For my card I used this adorable Ducks on a String (1612-G) image and paired it with the It's A Boy (1612-E) sentiment.  I used up some patterned paper scraps from my scrap drawer and added some teeny-weeny buttons for the wheels under the ducks and for the three round elements at the end of each horizontal panel.  I added a little sparkle by using a couple of Spica pens and using some Stickles for the ducks' eyes.

Here is this week's sketch, which I obviously turned on its side.  We'd love to have you play along with us and make a card using this sketch.  Please head over to The House That Stamps Built for details on submitting your entry and to see the wonderful cards the rest of the team made using the sketch - there are some real stunners!

RI SOTW - Raggedy Ann & Andy and a Blog Award

Hello again! This is my second post for today - please scroll down one to see my weekly Outlines post!

This week's Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions is this cute Raggedy Ann and Andy (902-I) image. When I was little my grandmother made a pair of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for me and I cherish them.  Recently my cousin, whose name is Ann, sent me a box of gold trims and decoupage supplies that had belonged to my grandmother, and that is where the gold circular element on my card came from - I guess you could say it all came full circle!

My papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Gretel collection.  I decided to go with a vintage feel since my Raggedy Ann and Andy are practically antiques!  My layout is from this week's Card Positioning Systems CPS206 sketch challenge.

For the inside, I stamped the 'You Make Me Smile' sentiment from Repeat Impressions Quartet Complements set.  Please be sure to head over to The House That Stamps Built to get the details on getting this great image for 50% off this week only!

Blog Award

My Krafty Kat friend Miriam recently started her own blog, Miriam's Delirium, and recently bestowed this blog award on me:

The Liebster Blog Award is given to bring newer blogs to light and originated in Germany. It's a great way to share blogs that might not otherwise be seen or ones you want to share with others. They should have less than 150 followers.

As a recipient of this award I must share the love and pay it forward by:

1 Creating a post where I blog about the Liebster award and reveal my 3-5 blog picks

2 Letting the honorees know that I selected them

3 Copying and pasting the blog award on my blog

Most of the blogs I follow are not new, so this was a little bit of a challenge, but here are three blogs you should check out!

Vicki Boddick - Heartwarmers from Vicki

Michele Greenwood - Whimisical Creations

Joy Hadden - Pieces of Joy

Outlines - Stripes

Happy Monday! It's time for another Outlines design team challenge! This week our challenge is stripes - incorporate stripes on your card design with stamps, paper or embellishments. I have stripes in my background paper as well as my background stamp image, which is Swatch 2 (I-671), and my yellow ribbon.

My focal image is Square Flower Lg. (E-522), which I stamped three times and trimmed into three separate layers, each popped up with foam tape.  I colored it and my background image using Copic markers.  I added Gold Pearl Pen to the open circles in the Square Flower image and Lt. Colorado Topaz Swarovski crystals to the flower centers.

Please be sure to check out the rest of the design team's striped creations:

Babies are Heaven Sent

Happy Friday!  Today I have a baby card that a friend asked me to make for a baby girl whose room is green and purple.  Not very traditional colors for a baby, but it's a combination I like!  I used Kaisercraft's Lilac Avenue 6x6 pad for the patterned papers and the border strips.  The focal image is from Flourishes Rock-a-Bye set, the Babies are Heaven Sent sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Bitty Baby Blessings sets and the Welcome, Valeria was created using a JustRite Stampers alphabet set - perfect for creating custom sentiments like this.

The image was stamped directly on the patterned paper and colored using Copic markers, as was the twine for my bow.  The blanket was paper pieced.  The layout is from this week's Sweet Sunday sketch #104 and the card also qualifies for this week's Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge #105, which is to use three patterned papers.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!

Belli Challenge #111 - Felt or Fabric and RI CASE Challenge - Ayana

Happy Wednesday! Today I have another combined Belli Challenge and Repeat Impressions CASE challenge to show you. For the Felt/Fabric challenge, I used this beautiful Maya Road suede flower.   The layout comes from the card my fellow Repeat Impressions design team member Ayana Posadas created.  I used the Flowering Vine (4314-K) image to create a border strip and colored it using Copic markers.  I added blue rhinestones to the center of each flower.  The Deepest Sympathy sentiment (8612) is from the Quartet Complements series, which is a versatile set of sentiments.

Please be sure to make your way over to the Belli Challenge blog to get the rules for playing along with our felt/fabric challenge, and while you're there, be sure to check out the wonderful cards from the rest of the Belli Challenge team!

You should also head over to The House That Stamps Built to find out about playing along with our CASE challenge and to see the great cards the rest of the team made using Ayana's great card for inspiration!

Outlines - Red, White and Black

This week's Outlines Design Team challenge is a color combination....can you guess what it is?  Red, White and Black!  I love this combination, but I rarely use it and find it difficult for some reason.

I started out with the Inspiration Background (K-233) image again this week and added some red Pearl Paint Pen to the squares.  I stamped the Black Dot Vase (C-375) using red ink and tied a black and white bow around it.  I stamped the Round Posy Medium (E-1039) on mulberry paper and stamped the Round Posy Small (E-1040) on red and white polka dotted paper.  I added a clear Swarovski crystal to the center and attached the flower and vase using Stem (B-385).  The Script Love You (B-1035) sentiment was also stamped in red and matted with the red and white polka dot paper.

Please be sure to check out the wonderful red, white and black cards the rest of the design team is showcasing this week:

It Had to be Mew

This is the Valentine's Day card I made for Tim - I'm posting it early because I made it for this week's Mojo Monday 177 sketch challenge, which closes tonight!  This Cat's Pajamas set was perfect since we love cats and puns!

The patterned papers are from Scenic Route and the glittery paper for the heart that Sprinkle is holding is from Making Memories.  The overlapping hearts are chipboard that I painted with acrylic paint and then outlined with Sargent's Gold Liquid Metal.  Sprinkle's collar was screaming for a little bling, so I added three clear rhinestones.

For the inside, I stamped the sentiment and cut the panel out using the same Nestabilities die that I used on the front.  Both panels were airbrushed using Copic markers.  That's about it!  Hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day!

RI Sketch Challenge - Spring Blossoms

We have a new Repeat Impressions Sketch Challenge for you this week.  For my card, I used 1320-M Spring Blossoms for my focal image and the sentiment is from the Quartet Complements series.  The flowers were colored using Copic markers and the backgrounds of both images were airbrushed.  I added some Spica marker over the flower centers and the sentiment for a little sparkle.

Please be sure to go to The House That Stamps Built to find the details for entering the sketch challenge and to see the wonderful cards the rest of the team has made using the sketch!

Stamp of the Week - Ballerina Pig

It's time for another Repeat Impressions Stamp of the Week. This week's special is this Ballerina Pig (909-G) image, which is available for 50% off until February 13th. The sentiment is from the Quartet Complements set.

I used Webster's Pages Lullaby Lane 6x6 paper pack, Bloomers and Netting on my card.  The pig's tutu was paper pieced and the netting was adhered to the back of the tutu before it was glued to the pig.  The leftover netting was added to the bloomer rose.  The pig was colored with Copic markers and hte sentiment was airbrushed while still in the Ribbon Tag die.

Please head on over to The House That Stamps Built for details on getting this adorable ballerina pig for half price and to see the other wonderful cards the design team has made!

Outlines - Metallic Paint

This week's challenge for the Outlines design team is to use Metallic Paint.  As you might have figured out, I used Gold Metallic Paint. ;-)   This paint is really fun to work with and there are a lot of possibilities for it.  I have previously used it on this card and this card

I painted the Inspiration Background (K-233) and Thanks (C-261) images with the metallic paint, then stamped them on black card stock.   The paint washes off the rubber easily with a little water and a gentle scrub with a toothbrush.  I layered the Thanks on a chipboard flourish that was also colored with the metallic paint.  I accented the corners of the Thanks image and the flourish with some Light Colorado Topaz crystals.  I wrapped black and gold ribbon around the center, tied a bow with the gold ribbon, then mounted the whole thing on a black panel.

Please be sure to check out the cards the rest of the design team made using Metallic Paint:

Jeanne Streiff - Inky Paws

RI CASE Challenge - ME!

There is another CASE (copy and share everything) challenge going on over on the Repeat Impressions blog, and this time the card that is to be CASEd is this one of mine! I originally made this card for a Repeat Impressions sketch challenge last spring, so it's not new, but it's still one of my favorites.

Since I was away at CHA last weekend, I didn't have time to make a card for the challenge, but the rest of the RI design team did and you should definitely head over to The House That Stamps Built to see their great cards!  They did a wonderful job with it!

The challenge is open until Tuesday, February 15th at 5:00 PM EST if you would like to play along for a chance to win your choice of an unmounted sheet of stamps.

While I was at CHA (the Craft and Hobby Association trade show), I had a chance to meet up with my fellow Repeat Impressions Design Team member, Lynette Neus.  Hope you made it home safe and sound, Lynette!
